Mutts – A New Way to Hang with Your Best Friend

I’ve been anxious to try Mutts since it first opened about three weeks ago, but seeing as I don’t have a dog (for now) and my schedule has been somewhat demanding otherwise, it just hadn’t happened yet. But this past weekend I watched a friend’s dog, Mia, and found the perfect excuse to bring my “borrowed child” to the dog park meets bar.

Owners and friends lounge around the picnic tables sipping on local craft beers, frozen margaritas or one of the hand spun shakes, while dogs play at ease in the yards; one for small dogs and a separate one for large dogs. Or if your dog isn’t feeling especially social and instead prefers to hang with you, that’s ok too. If your dog is mingling in one of the yards, it’s for a small daily fee or inexpensive monthly membership, and the guarantee that his playmates are up-to-date on shots, while full-time attendants provide snacks, water and pick up after the dogs.

I tried the turkey burger, per the server’s recommendation, and was impressed with the flavor, juiciness and bow wow sauce. Top it off with a Bourbon Shake, the 21+ up shake offering, and I couldn’t find a bone to pick about this place.

dogWalk your dog over to Mutts, bring some friends and grab a cold one – your dog will cool off in the tubs of water while you shade yourself under one of the trees adorned with misting fans.

  1. Technically, the Mutts staff aren’t responsible for ‘picking up’ after your dog… on the list of rules, they clearly state that clean-up is the responsibility of the owner.

Having said that, in all other aspects this is a pretty good restaurant / dog park. I bring my two dogs here on a regular basis now.

Thanks for the clarification! The website and impression I received don’t match that rule, but it’s good to note. I did notice there were trash cans and baggies available inside the lawn area for guests to use. Glad you enjoy the new spot as well!

  2. I was hesitant to try Mutts out at first due to their breed restrictions and some pretty bad reviews I read about their opening weekend. Some friends of mine begged me to try it out with them and I am SO GLAD that I did! Great food, great prices, and a great staff! And for only $10 a month I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend hangout for me and my dog and all of his friends! It’s definitely worth the trip to try it out!
